A leading healthcare provider in Birmingham seeks an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology Department. The ideal candidate will have an IBMS Accredited Biological Sciences degree and HCPC registration. Responsibilities include performing tests, maintaining quality control, and working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary lab. A vacancy has arisen for a full time experienced Biomedical Scientist, to work in the multidisciplinary laboratory at The Priory hospital, a background in Haematology and Blood Transfusion will be essential.
Priory Hospital is one of Birminghams busiest private hospitals with a fully equipped Intensive care unit and a twenty room consulting suite. The TDL pathology laboratory also provides Haematology, Biochemistry and Blood Transfusion services to ten private hospitals situated across the West Midlands area on a 24/7 basis
The role will involve working alongside other members of the laboratory team and undertaking biochemistry, haematology and blood transfusion investigations, providing a 24/7 service. The post holder will be an experienced Biomedical Scientist who can work as part of a team undertaking routine testing and specialist investigations in order to provide safe and reliable results as well as compatible blood components and products for patients who require transfusion.
The tests are carried out on blood samples unsupervised and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and local standard operating procedures. Work will be undertaken with much autonomy but under the overall responsibility of the laboratory manager.
The successful candidate should hold an IBMS-accredited Biological Sciences degree or equivalent experience and have current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Flexible working hours 37.5 hours standard working week. With a variety of working patterns available, options to review working flexibly will be considered.
The post holder will be required to work within any section of the department including core and unsocial hours as required.
