Job summary

A leading bioscience institute in Norwich seeks a Biological Safety Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with biological safety legislation, train staff on safety practices, and oversee risk assessments. Ideal candidates will possess an MSc or PhD in Biology and experience working with genetically modified organisms. This full-time position offers a salary between £45,450 and £56,750 per annum and a contract duration of 36 months. Qualifications

  • Essential MSc or PhD in a relevant biological field.
  • Membership in a professional body is required.
  • Knowledge of biological safety laws is essential.
  • Experience with GM organism work is necessary.
  • Strong writing and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee biological safety compliance across JIC.
  • Train personnel on safe laboratory practices.
  • Provide guidance on GMOs and containment evaluations.
  • Conduct biological safety inspections and audits.
  • Investigate safety-related incidents and prepare reports.

Skills

Knowledge of biological safety legislation
Laboratory experience with GMOs
Data analysis and reporting skills
Independent decision-making
Experience with EHS management systems
Experience investigating incidents
Ability to prepare policies

Education

MSc or PhD in Biology
Membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH)
NEBOSH General Certificate
