Job description
Responsibilities
  • Work within operating procedures and protocols.
  • As a technically qualified member of the department, carry out appropriate technical and analytical roles and support the non-technical and management elements of the department.
  • Take specific responsibility for the day to day operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Department Health and Safety regulations.
  • As a practitioner provide a 24‑hour laboratory medicine service for the Trust, supported by a senior member of staff out of hours.
Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone who is keen to join the friendly and professional laboratory team as a band 5 BMS. The successful candidate will have technical knowledge commensurate with this grade, be able to maintain and progress quality initiatives with a flexible and innovative approach, work well within a team and have a patient‑focused attitude.

Biochemistry Department is equipped with Beckman Automation (3 x AU5800, 2 x DXI, Automate and DXA pre/post‑analytical systems), Sebia electrophoresis (CZE) and POCT involvement across the Trust. IT systems used include Cirdan Ultra LIMS, Sunquest ICE, Cerner Millennium and QPulse quality management software.
