- Hours: 8:30am – 5pm
- Work pattern: Hybrid (live within commutable distance)
- Location: Stone, Staffordshire
- Salary: Up to £30k DOE (+ performance-based bonus)
Responsibilities
- Generate concise and persuasive bid proposals and create and deliver presentations to public sector (local authority) and corporate prospective clients.
- Join an existing small, but exceptionally successful, team and contribute to bid activities.
- Work to strict deadlines and ensure timely internal and external delivery to maximise bid win potential.
- Attend meetings, participate actively, and provide valuable contributions.
- Request information from colleagues and relevant parties within set time limits; be confident and assertive when required.
- Consistently update and improve the Bid Library; adapt and refine content to enhance bid responses; re-write old proposals as needed.
- Initiate and build strong internal and external working relationships.
- Conduct proactive research (general market and client-specific) before meetings.
- Submit completed proposal responses to the Senior Bid Writer or Head of Bid within agreed deadlines; escalate issues as necessary.
- Develop tailored responses and method statements aligned with client requirements, communicating win themes effectively.
- Create presentations and supporting handouts for each proposal.
- Review and analyse outcomes of bids to improve future efforts.
- Support other departments with copy for newsletters, marketing material, and ad hoc documents when required.
Requirements
- Ideally at least 2 years' experience in bid writing with a proven ability to produce excellent sales and strategy documentation.
- Journalist / creative / copywriting experience is not a fit for this position.
- Degree level education preferred but not essential.
- Exceptional writing and English language skills; concise, to-the-point content.
- Excellent editing skills.
- IT proficiency (including Microsoft Office packages).
- Forward-thinking, collaborative, and flexible with a strong work ethic; culture fit is important.
- Ability to confidently present bids succinctly and professionally.
- Experience managing a demanding workload with proactive prioritisation.
- Keen attention to detail to ensure content accuracy.
