Are you an experienced Bid Manager with a history of successfully tendering for and winning bids within competitive Civils / Construction environments?

Are you looking for an opportunity to join a rapidly expanding division within a highly reputable Contractor with excellent progression prospects?

Then a role within a world-class, award-winning, Tier 1, innovative contractor could be for you.

We are looking for an exceptional Bid Manager to join our Pre-Construction team in Swindon to support PQQ and Tenders. A Civils Contractor site background and/or Engineering qualifications are highly desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Drive and energise the bid team to achieve a successful outcome for each allocated tender, following designated processes and best practices within the organization.
  2. Continuously evaluate winning strategies and direct team and resources to focus on activities that will enhance the chance of bid success.
  3. Arrange all necessary internal meetings – Kickoff, Settlement, and others identified in the work-winning process.
  4. Agree on Bid Budget and monitor expenditure.
  5. Manage tender programme.
  6. Produce actions and appoint individuals to complete relevant items arising from meetings/minutes, driving actions to completion.
  7. Undertake corporate approval process in conjunction with Work Winning Director.
  8. Maintain communication links with Client/Employers' Agent and manage interactions with third parties.
  9. Keep senior management informed of developments on tenders and gain acceptance of key decision points.
  10. Issue briefs to Operations, Commercial, Temp Works, and Specialist third parties. Identify estimator and planner requirements where necessary.
  11. Manage communication and interface with joint venture partners and key supply chain.
  12. Oversee designers' briefs in conjunction with Technical Services and manage designers to achieve optimal solutions.
  13. Participate in the appointment of specialist third parties.
  14. Review supplier tenders and oversee commercial strategy.
  15. Manage risk and opportunity assessments, including commercial considerations.
  16. Collaborate with the commercial manager to understand the route to deliver the margin set within the business plan.
  17. Decide on queries to raise in line with the tender strategy.
  18. Arrange and coordinate tender and post-tender meetings with the client/employers' agent.
  19. Ensure resources for quality submission are in place and timescales are met, using a deliverables tracker prior to kickoff.
  20. Manage and participate in the review of the quality submission.
  21. Disseminate tender feedback once results are known.
  22. Handover successful tenders to the project delivery team.
  23. Use formal meeting agendas and save presentations as PowerPoint slides in the corporate database.

Personal Specification

  1. Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  2. Previous experience as a Bid Manager for a main contractor within Civil Engineering & Infrastructure sectors.
  3. Proven success with high-profile tenders.
  4. At least 7 years post-graduate experience.
  5. A strong will to achieve and surpass expectations.
  6. Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  7. Winning mentality.
