Job description
Overview

The Benefits Service within South East London Mind is a well-established offer of support to clients who need to access welfare benefits they are entitled to receive. The service currently provides casework support for people who need to challenge benefits decisions across the three boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich. There is also a cross-area team of volunteers who assist with form filling and all aspects of the assessment process.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the quality of the support the team delivers to ensure it is robust and accountable.
  • Lead strategic development of the service and manage a team to deliver the support; have an interest in expanding the service in the future.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Significant experience of working within welfare benefits.
  • Good understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems and the links with welfare issues.
  • Experience thinking strategically to develop a service and managing a team to deliver the support.
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively, be proactive and show initiative.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
