A local government authority is seeking a dedicated support worker to assist children with significant learning disabilities in their residential short break home. This role involves working closely with children aged 4 to 18 to help them develop their independence skills and engage them in activities. Candidates should showcase experience in this area and possess strong communication and teamwork abilities. The position offers competitive pay between £13.90 and £15.31 per hour and includes a rolling temporary contract emphasizing training and support.
You will be able to provide support to cover the teams annual leave, training, sickness and ensure the children are supported by staff they know well., BASE is a unique Residential Short break home supporting children ages 4 to 18 who have a diagnosed disability and significant learning need who are edge of care. We offer children regular planned short break or for some children to live part of the week at BASE whilst enabling them to remain at home the rest of the week. We work closely with home, school, health and any other service who is involved with the child to ensure the child s needs are met in all environments.
You must have experience of working or supporting children with significant learning disabilities, sensory and communication needs. You will have a passion and enthusiasm to get to know the children and help them develop their independence skills. You will work as part of a team to understand the children s experiences and enable them to develop new skills and confidence. You will need to be caring, patient, and resilient. You will have good communication both verbally and written, the ability to interact with children with a wide range of disabilities and a passion to enable them to succeed. You will be able to demonstrate good team working and positive communication strategies.

BASE (short break provision in Leigh with opportunities to cover wigan LA residential children s homes)
Salary: Grade 5, 13.90 - 15.31 per hour (G5 plus enhancements for sleep in s and any Sunday working)
10 hours per year (Bank position so will be regular shift cover as and when you are able to support. This is mostly evenings, school holidays and weekend work. There is enhancements for Sunday working.)
Rolling 12 month temporary contract (Reviewed yearly to ensure regular shift cover has been provided and training completed)

A great opportunity to join our Residential staff, in our OFSTED Outstanding LD Short break Children s home. You will have full access to a comprehensive induction and training programme. You will be working alongside a well-established staff team and have access to a comprehensive training offer. You will support children ages 4-18 to enjoy their stay at BASE, develop new skills and understanding how they experience the world. You will support children to experience new activities both in the home and in the local community.
