Qualifications
  • Great aptitude and knowledge of an Asian language (essential)
Purpose of Post

To ensure the maximum physical, emotional, and social well‑being of Clients who are isolated, frail, vulnerable, disabled or have some mental illness and their Carers.

Responsibilities
  • Help with general advocacy work e.g., form filling, making telephone calls for clients, etc.
  • Update care plans or make progress notes to ensure client’s records reflect their circumstances.
  • Provide activities to the elderly at the day centre (equipment provided).
  • Provide services as arranged by EAWA to support clients as needed e.g., GP visits, sitting, etc.
Duties
  1. Assist in the day‑to‑day operation of the day centre for older people and implement the yearly work plan.
  2. Have conversations with clients to understand them, listen, and help them. Give individual attention to those who have difficulty expressing their needs.
  3. Attend to personal hygiene and physical support for those who need it, serve refreshments/meals, assist clients as required, and clear up afterward.
  4. In cooperation with other staff ensure organised activities run smoothly, offering assistance where necessary or undertaking allotted duties and managing the environment (e.g., set up space, rotas).
  5. Train to provide activities, where opportunity arises, so that you can manage an activity as part of ongoing personal development.
  6. Help with advocacy on behalf of clients (e.g., fill in forms, make appointments, help with correspondence and maximise welfare benefits).
  7. Provide services as organised by EAWA in other EAWA projects if needed.
  8. Report promptly any areas of concern and/or deterioration in health or family situation and report any other problems that may be causing distress: complete, monitor and update the care plans/progress notes as directed or as needed. Be a Key Worker.
  9. Ensure that the work style and culture of EAWA promotes respect, confidentiality and dignity for individuals and their Carers/needs.
  10. Implement Health and Safety procedures to ensure safe, effective action at all times for self, clients and the organisation.
  11. Attend training, supervisions, team meetings, and any other relevant meetings.
Additional Expectations

In addition to undertaking the duties as outlined above, the post holder will be expected to fully adhere to the following:

  1. Operational: Ensure that all duties are carried out in line with the organisation's health and safety, operational, performance management, personnel, data protection, and financial policies and procedures. Always run the service per EAWA’s mission statement and charitable objectives.
  2. Confidentiality: Maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to the organisation’s information and procedures.
  3. Equality: Act in accordance with the organisation's Equality Policy, designed to prevent discrimination of any kind and ensure equality of opportunity is a key principle continually embraced.

The post holder may be asked to undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the grading of the post.
