Rethink Mental Illness is looking for an experienced Counsellor to join our team at HMP Full Sutton.

This role is a Bank position.

Imagine being part of an organisation whose common purpose is to help those who are severely impacted by mental illness. We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity – and that’s why equity is one of our core values. We draw on the expertise, unique perspectives, and lived experience of our people – regardless of who they are or their background – to help us become an inclusive and anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation, and service provider that reflects the diverse communities we support as a mental health charity.

As a Counsellor, you will work as part of an integrated mental health team within the prison, providing brief counselling for depressive symptoms secondary to a complex life event, e.g., bereavement or adjustment, in line with Step 2 IAPT guidelines. This is delivered over a brief model (6-8 sessions) in either 1:1 or group settings. You will also support wider mental health activities, such as service promotion, peer mentoring, mental health initiatives, and service improvement activities. Role-specific supervision will be provided in line with BACP guidelines.
