Job description

An opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Leadership Team within our Adult and Specialist Rehabilitation Division as the Professional Lead for Nursing. This is your chance to make an impact by driving excellence and innovation across our services.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will champion a culture of high-quality professional nursing leadership, ensuring that our care reflects the very best of our Trust values. Your vision and expertise will help define the role of nursing in achieving our ambitious goals, delivering outstanding care for patients and their families.

The purpose of the role is to provide professional leadership for nursing across the clinical division, developing a clear vision for the contribution of nurses to the overarching ambitions of the service.

To rise to this exciting challenge, you will have substantial leadership experience including quality improvement initiatives. You will be a driven individual with highly developed communication and negotiation skills; you will motivate teams and inspire a culture of continuous improvement. You must have an understanding of inpatient and outpatient services as well as knowledge of education and the workforce in a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities
  • To deputise for the Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies as required
  • As a member of the wider clinical divisional management structure provide strong, clear visionary leadership through team working to ensure effective operational management and delivery of nursing services.
  • Support the Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies to have clear oversight of compliance with all domains of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulatory framework.
  • To work collaboratively within the Integrated Care System to ensure that we collectively address the local recruitment, retention, leadership and engagement of our nursing workforce.
  • To work collaboratively with Divisional and Trust colleagues, to develop and implement professional standards for nursing across the division which supports professional development, leadership, competence, capacity, and standards of conduct.
  • To support the Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies, ensuring that sound clinical governance and supervision arrangements are in place at all levels for nursing.

The successful candidate will be leading on workstreams which align with their skills and experience in addition to:

  • Quality improvement in the division
  • Attendance at key divisional and Trust meetings
  • Safeguarding
  • IPC and Vaccination
