Band 8b Pharmacist – Acute Trust (Ward-Based)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: Until 4th Janruary 2026

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00am – 17:00pm

Pay: £31.71/hour – Standard £50.74/hour – Bank Holidays

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Band 8b pharmacist to join an acute trust on a ward-based assignment. This senior role involves providing advanced clinical pharmacy services across key specialities, including:

  • General Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Orthopaedics
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and lead high-level clinical pharmacy services across assigned wards
  • Provide advanced medicines optimisation and clinical leadership
  • Oversee complex medicines reconciliation and therapeutic reviews
  • Act as a specialist advisor to multidisciplinary teams and senior clinicians
  • Support safe prescribing, clinical governance and policy implementation
  • Contribute to discharge planning, patient counselling and service improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • GPhC Registered Pharmacist
  • Significant hospital experience at Band 8a/8b level
  • Strong clinical expertise within acute care settings
  • Ability to work autonomously and provide leadership within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
