Overview

BHRUT is looking for an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of the Breast Lead Nurse. As a Lead Nurse, you will have overall responsibility for the direction and development of the Breast Service at BHRUT. You will manage a team of Breast Care Nurses and the Breast outpatient department, offer clinical expertise, advice and clinical skills to ensure the smooth running of the department and high standards of care. As a Lead you will represent the service at regional and national Breast Cancer meetings.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team within Barking Havering and Redbridge University Trust. The post holder will acknowledge and provide overall responsibility for the provision of specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families, inpatients and out-patients, throughout their care pathway.

  • Lead and develop the Breast Service and manage the Breast Care Nurses and outpatient department.
  • Provide clinical expertise, advice and skills to ensure high standards of care.
  • Represent the service at regional and national Breast Cancer meetings.
Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Essential: Registered General Nurse
  • Desirable: Educated or willing to work towards a master’s degree

Experience/Knowledge

  • Essential: 5 years plus experience within the Breast field; relevant formal teaching/mentoring experience
  • Desirable: Experience managing staff; experience disseminating work through presentations/publications
Other requirements
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required
  • Current UK professional registration required
