Job Summary

8W ward is a 32‑bedded acute medicine for the elderly ward on the 8th floor of the Royal Free Hospital. The patients on the ward are cared for in an environment that provides comfort, safety and support for their stay. We encourage innovation and work closely with an inspiring team of nurses, medics, dementia specialists, therapists, discharge coordinators, to ensure our patients remain active and engaged. Our aim is to provide high quality acute medical and multi‑professional care for our patients, allowing speedy diagnosis, treatment and transfer, or discharge back to the community.

Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in the management and strategic development of the ward, working closely with our Matron and Clinical Lead.
  • Deliver a challenging agenda, providing a high‑quality service to patients and a positive working environment for staff.
  • Lead, support and develop the multidisciplinary team, overseeing service quality and quality improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders.
Qualifications – Education & Professional Qualifications
  • First level registration.
  • First level degree.
  • Evidence of post‑registration qualification.
  • Mentorship qualification.
Experience
  • Substantial post‑registration experience in the area of specialty.
  • Evidence of teaching junior members of staff and assessing students in practice.
  • Proven evidence of improving the patient experience.
  • Current experience of line management of staff.
Desirable
  • Proven experience of monitoring and acting on nursing quality data and developing appropriate action plans.
