Role Overview

In this position, you will manage a defined caseload of patients, applying core social work values and principles while contributing to effective risk management, safeguarding, and recovery-focused care planning. You will work collaboratively with clinical teams to support safe and timely discharge pathways and ensure that patients receive comprehensive, trauma-informed support throughout their inpatient stay.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a complex caseload of forensic and adult mental health patients.
  • Apply social work legislation, principles, and best practice frameworks in all casework.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement robust risk‑management plans.
  • Lead on safeguarding concerns and ensure compliance with statutory processes.
  • Develop, review, and oversee discharge plans, liaising with internal and external partners.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, reports, and service planning.
  • Advocate for patients' rights and support their engagement in recovery-focused interventions.
  • Participate in ongoing service development and quality‑improvement initiatives.
  • Access opportunities for continued professional development, training, and research.
Requirements
  • PMVA training or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrable senior‑level experience within adult mental health services.
  • Previous experience working in a forensic inpatient environment.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and relevant legislation.
