Responsibilities
  • As a band 5 Scrub Orthopaedic Practitioner you will develop learned scrub and circulation skills, initially in the ENT and ophthalmology team and in the longer term, in a variety of specialties.
  • You will be required to work 3 x 12.5-hour shifts.
  • You will practice anaesthetics in a number of different surgical specialties including Obstetrics, Paediatrics, ENT, Urology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, Oral and maxillofacial, Colorectal, and Robotics.
  • You will cover outlying areas such as the cardiac catheter lab and rotate on the emergency bleep covering cardiac arrests, trauma calls and other airway intervention calls.
  • Maintain a calm and focused approach under pressure and contribute to the safe and efficient running of the operating department.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Impressive interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within the existing theatre teams and/or independently.
  • Open to both nurses with a postgraduate anaesthetic qualification and ODPs; training and development are essential to maintain an excellent service and meet evidence-based best practice.
  • Willingness to develop new skills and good communication abilities.
