Job summary

Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Radiographer you are a vital part of many patient pathways and key to ensuring patients receive compassionate care while supporting a timely diagnosis. Whether you are providing highly skilled image acquisition or undertaking advanced clinical tasks it is a role that makes a difference.

As a Band 5 radiographer you will be supported and developed in your role. All newly qualified radiographers complete a preceptorship programme and are supported by the senior team, mentors and practice educators.

The significant growth in capacity provided by the CDCs will also bring many opportunities for further training and development of your skills. We want you to find the next stage of your career with us.

Interviews will be held in person.

Main Duties
  • Deliver high quality medical imaging and accurately appraise and interpret images within own scope of practice.
  • Maintain excellent standards of patient care.
  • Liaise with other colleagues and departments in a professional manner to ensure efficient radiographic service delivery.
  • Work across different sites, including the main hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre, and participate in the out of hours rota.
  • Undertake all types of imaging according to standard operating procedures, local policies and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure examinations adhere to the professional code of conduct for radiographers and safety procedures such as IR(R)M.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
  • Essential: Degree in Radiography or DCR equivalent (students qualifying this academic year welcome to apply); HCPC registration or pending if a student.
  • Desirable: Training in Radiation Protection, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Essential: Evidence of appropriate CPD participation; ability to prioritise work under pressure; recent NHS experience (including students training in the NHS); familiar with SECTRA PACS and CRIS/RIS.
  • Desirable: Out of hours experience; radiographic experience post qualification or currently still training; mentor and supervisor training.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Essential: Good communication skills; good organisation skills with ability to maintain a busy workload; good clinical skills; good level of IT skills; ability to critique images; perceptive, able to assess and respond to patients’ needs and adapt process; able to participate fully in out of hours working.
  • Desirable: Open minded to new techniques and challenges.
