About the Department

Come join our team in Children and Young Peoples’ Daycare and Outpatients Department. Our busy CYP Daycare and Outpatients sees over 6000 thousand patients a year, requiring systemic anti‑cancer therapy, radiotherapy and supportive care, delivered by our team. The age range of our patients is 1 to 24 year old, making CYPDU a unique unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

Role Overview

The Children and Young People’s day unit is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Housekeeper to join our team. This is a part time position to help support the department with housekeeping duties. The post holder will be required to work from Monday to Friday (No weekends, no bank holiday).

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient facilities/services in the ward area and ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  • Deliver cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse.
  • Monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies.
  • Receive, welcome and guide visitors on arrival to the ward, liaising with other staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update paper‑based records and information as required, e.g. menus, requisition books.
  • Respond to requests for general information.
  • Receive and pass on information to others, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Handle complaints and take appropriate action.
  • Assist with training of staff involved with ward housekeeping services, ensuring required standards are achieved.
Qualifications

We are looking for a person who is keen to work with our team, who has good communication skills and organisation skills to ensure the smooth running of the Unit.
