Job description

A Personal Assistant is required to support a fifty-four-year-old gentleman in the HU7 area of Hull. He has a wicked sense of humour, is fun to spend time with and loves to have a laugh and a joke. He values his independence and has previously been involved in residents' consultation groups.

He uses an electric wheelchair to get around and is partially sighted, he can no longer leave his home without a PA present due to the sight impairment.

He needs a PA to support him to attend medical appointments, which may occasionally be out of town. He needs support with a range of personal care needs and with dressing appropriately due to his sight loss; he often jokes about the times he has ended up with his clothes on inside out or wearing mismatched shoes. He also needs support with meal preparation and maintaining a habitable home. He does have some personal care needs.

There will be additional hours available when the main PA is on holiday or on sick leave.

Someone with experience of care work would be preferred, but personality and attitude are more important than experience as training can be given.

The successful applicant will be employed subject to a DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Hull City Council.
