Role Overview

Autonomous Vehicle Roadside Assistance Specialist. We rescue riders in inoperable autonomous vehicles. You will be the face of the organization and provide assistance when riders are in need.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high standard of safety inside and outside the autonomous vehicle.
  • Demonstrate situational awareness, understand the technology in your care, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Serve as a liaison between management, engineers, and the public, communicating courteously.
  • Operate or drive up to 8 hours per day, five days a week; respond quickly to change and high-pressure situations.
  • Work primarily individually, with occasional small-group collaboration.
  • Monitor multiple software systems with focus; provide concise verbal and written communication about vehicle operations.
  • Complete daily reports and document procedures or tasks.
  • Interacting with the public to educate them on self-driving technology.
  • Operate autonomous vehicles on defined and undefined routes in various environmental conditions while using onboard data-recording computers.
  • Set up and ride in autonomous vehicles with limited control over operations; assist in safe recovery when needed.
  • Apply safety procedures in all aspects of the position and provide excellent customer service during embarkation and disembarkation of passengers.
Candidate Requirements
  • Must be 21 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED – required
  • Must have and maintain a driving record meeting state AVT and/or other applicable regulations
  • Meets driver requirements, including driving record and criminal history in the state(s) where the vehicle monitor will work
  • Ability to parallel park with minimal assistance and complete a live parking assessment
  • Willingness to enroll in a randomized drug testing program upon acceptance of work
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving on public roads
  • Proficiency with a laptop and apps
  • Proficiency with a touchscreen smartphone
  • Typing speed of at least 25 adjusted WPM
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
  • Good attention to detail and ability to describe thoughts quickly and concisely
  • Six months of experience driving a self-driving car – preferred
  • Ability to respond quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios
  • Adapt quickly to new and developing technology
  • Cross-functional verbal and written communication and good customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask multiple technologies, including communications devices and vehicle status systems
  • Willingness to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Excellent performers may travel and mentor new team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments
