Our client has been established for almost 20 years and is recognised as a leading provider of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commissioning on bespoke automation solutions for a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Engineer to complement their highly successful Projects team.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple projects averaging ~:GBP75k as required by the Project Manager. Develop Functional Design Specifications and associated Controls layouts according to FDS requirements, as well as related Safety Matrix and Device List information.
- Develop automation solutions with the experience to support electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing. Visit customer sites as required to ensure milestones and customer satisfaction are achieved.
- Develop technical documents in line with client requirements to industry standards using technical features, diagrams and language. Maintain overall responsibility for project gateway sign‑off for automation, including (but not limited to) FDS, electrical design (including AutoCAD layouts and converting mechanical layouts into Controls layouts), FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
- Manage all aspects of Resource Management for each assigned project, ensuring materials are identified, within budget, ordered and delivered onsite to project schedule. Create associated project documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
- Support fellow team members with strong organisational and communication skills, and ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation. Provide weekly project updates on task status as required.
- Able to work away as required and attend meetings at an associated facility in Nottingham. Undertake additional training where required and work autonomously or as part of the team, on site and in the workshop, ensuring all relevant Health and Safety legislation is adhered to.
- Skilled in scheduling, prioritization, budget management, task management and risk management. Typically requires at least 3 years of project management experience within a logistics automation environment, with proven knowledge and experience in electrical/PLC design and development, ideally from conveyor, robotics or automotive contexts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in a logistics automation environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical/PLC design and development.
- Experience from conveyor, robotics or automotive environments is preferred.
