Job description

We are seeking an experienced Automation and Control Engineer to oversee all automation and control systems that regulate our paint and sealant manufacturing operations at Sheffield. This critical role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and drives continuous improvement across our production processes.

As the site technical expert, you will manage programming, servicing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, electrical controls, and related infrastructure. You will also lead vendor management, develop documentation, and implement strategies to optimize system performance and future‑proof our operations.

What Youll Do :
  • Lead all ICs activities
  • programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and electrical controls.
  • Act as the site technical expert, supporting and training engineering teams.
  • Manage vendor contracts and drive self‑sufficiency initiatives.
  • Deliver projects from concept to commissioning, improving plant performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and provide remote support when needed.
What We're Looking For :
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in automation and controls.
  • 5+ years in engineering / maintenance with ICs exposure.
  • Strong PLC / SCADA skills (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Ignition, InTouch).
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet / IP, Profibus) and electrical schematics.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma preferred).
Desirable :
  • ATEX / DSEAR knowledge, Process Safety Management, SEVESO / COMAH awareness.
