Autism Teaching Assistant – Durham (Full Time)

Location: Durham
Contract: Full time, long term
Start: ASAP
Pay: £89 to £110 per day (PAYE)

If you’re calm, patient and love helping pupils who thrive with structure, this role will feel right up your street. We’re working with a specialist autism provision in the Durham area that’s looking for a Teaching Assistant who can offer consistency, warmth and a steady presence.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting autistic pupils with communication and sensory routines
  • Following clear structures that help pupils feel safe
  • Using visuals, simple communication tools and predictable routines
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions in a low‑arousal environment
  • Working alongside teachers, therapists and experienced SEND staff

  • You’re calm under pressure and great at building trust
  • You can work full time and commit to a long‑term role
  • You drive and can travel across the Durham area

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
