Job summary

A leading educational support provider in the UK is looking for an Autism Support Worker in Huddersfield. This role involves supporting students with their classwork, creating an inclusive environment, and assisting teachers. Ideal candidates should be calm, patient, and understanding of children's additional learning needs. Experience is desirable but not essential. This is a long-term, term-time only position with an ASAP start date.

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an Autism Support Worker in SEN Huddersfield. The school is looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.

Role of an Autism Support Worker
  • Support students who may struggle with their classwork
  • Help create a fun, friendly, and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide support to the class teacher
  • Assist with preparing lesson materials and organising classroom displays
  • Maintain a tidy and presentable classroom
  • Encourage children to work to the best of their ability
  • Help manage classroom behaviour
  • Listen to children read and support them with phonics practice
The successful Autism Support Worker will:
  • Be calm, compassionate, and positive – personality is everything!
  • Be confident in taking initiative and problem‑solving
  • Ideally have some experience working with children (desirable but not essential)
  • Be patient and understanding of additional learning needs
  • Have a strong awareness of safeguarding in schools
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check or be willing to apply for one
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship)
