Working 36.5 hours per week

Are you passionate about driving service excellence and ensuring compliance? Do you want to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will shape policies and improve housing solutions. We are looking for an Audit and Policy Lead to join our Housing Solution and Support Service. This is a pivotal role where you will deliver a responsive, customer‑focused audit and policy function, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards and comply with BCCs Housing Allocations Scheme, legislation, policies, and best practice.

You will lead on audits, investigations, and performance reporting, while supporting policy development and IT system enhancements. This is an exciting opportunity to influence service improvements and make a real difference to the lives of our customers.

  • Provide expert advice on the Housing Allocation Scheme and Birmingham Choice.
  • Conduct thorough audits and investigations to ensure fair and compliant service delivery.
  • Maintain and develop the service’s resource library, including policies, workflows, and templates.
  • Support policy research, review, and development, including consultation and training.
  • Produce accurate performance reports and analyse complex data to inform decision‑making.
  • Deliver training on IT systems, policies, and procedures to staff and partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve customer journeys and service performance.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in housing services, auditing, policy development, and performance reporting.
  • Knowledgeable about housing allocations, legislation (including Part 6 Housing Act 1996), guidance, and related policies.
  • Analytical and detail‑oriented, with the ability to interpret complex data and legislation to present clear, actionable insights.
  • Tech‑savvy, with strong digital skills in housing management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A strong communicator, able to build relationships, deliver training, and influence change.
  • Organised and proactive, capable of managing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
