Accounting, Advisory and Assurance (AAA)

In Accounting, Advisory and Assurance (AAA) we support clients and audited entities across all sectors with technical accounting and financial reporting issues, and with meeting the assurance needs of their customers, auditors and regulators across a range of subject matter:

Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) providing specialist technical accounting advice to non-audited entities, aligned to financial reporting objectives, commercial reality and relevant regulatory requirements. Our work spans everything from supporting the implementation of new accounting standards, through to GAAP conversions and IPOs.

Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Assurance building on the rapid rise in regulatory and investor focus on ESG reporting including the introduction of CSRD requirements, delivering confidence through assurance over metrics such carbon emissions and diversity is now a key part of the successful functioning of our capital markets.

Controls Assurance providing important business-to-business assurance reports such as ISAE 3402 and SOC 2. Now that outsourcing is the new normal, trust between customers and suppliers is essential. Assuring internal controls operated at service providers is key in building this trust.

Transactions Assurance Group (TAG) supporting audited entities through transactions, where the historical financial information (HFI) requirements can be complex and differ according to the transaction type and the capital markets that are relevant. We work with businesses of all sizes and capital structures, looking to raise capital through an IPO process, both in the UK and US markets, and with established listed groups executing significant class 1 transactions or carve out audits for prospective listing/divestments.

Our Audit Centre of Excellence comprises the quality support and technical specialists for the audit practice. It has four focal areas:

InDepartment of Professional Practice (DPP) Accounting & Reporting, we drive quality by advising our audit teams on the most complex technical accounting issues. It's work that gives us a high level of contact with Partners and Directors.

OurDPP Audit team supports our auditors on technical issues, approaches and methodologies as well as driving the implementation of exciting technology solutions.

US Accounting and Reporting Group (USARG) provides audit support for the engagement teams of SEC-registrants based outside the US and contributes to registered and exempt offerings of securities within the US.

TheSecond Line of Defenceteam reviews in flight audits and helps coach audit teams to plan and deliver consistently high-quality audits.

DSG comprises of subject matter expert and specialist teams delivering high-quality support for audit teams and the wider audit practice.

Our Real Estate Valuation Centre of Excellence is made up of a team of highly experienced real estate valuation experts who provide high quality support to the Audit business helping auditors to robustly challenge real estate estimates (fair value property valuations) in order to meet auditing standards and to help deliver on the firm’s audit quality goals.

Our Pensions Centre of Excellence provides a range of specialist pensions audit services, including our industry-leading assurance services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes, and the delivery of high-quality audits of defined benefit pensions scheme balances within corporate sponsor financial statements.

Our Audit of Tax Centre of Excellence support audit teams in the completion of substantive tax procedures.

Our Share Based Payments Centre of Excellence support audit teams in the end-to-end testing of share based payment arrangements.

KPE Audit: KPMG Private Enterprise Audit is responsible for the high-quality delivery of audit engagements from planning through to completion. Working with privately owned entities across a range of businesses, from fast growth to large international established groups, as well as across different industries.

Financial Services Audit: Financial Services Audit deliver high quality financial statement audits for financial services entities. Financial statement audits perform a key role in the operation of the capital markets, so that shareholders and other stakeholders can have confidence in the financial performance reported by entities.

Corporates Listed and Regulated Audit: Corporates Listed and Regulated Audit is responsible for the high-quality delivery of audit engagements from planning through to completion. The teams work with a range of listed and regulated entities in a range of sectors.

Public Sector Audit: Our Public Sector Audit team operates across all aspect of the UK Public Sector. Our portfolio includes entities with the NHS, central government, local government, charities, higher education institutions and social housing. The team also deliver several Companies Act audits for subsidiary entities within their portfolio.

The IT Audit team provide independent, jargon-free technical expertise to help audited entities evaluate their technology risks through specialist IT audit support. We evaluate technology controls and assess how they may present a risk of financial misstatement. We work closely with financial auditors and other specialists as one team to deliver a truly market-leading service. We also work with our multi-disciplinary Consulting practice to deliver additional services to our non-audit clients.

Our key services include:

  • IT and business process, data, system and risk mapping
  • IT and automated business control identification and assessment
  • Review and testing of technology, data and business risks and controls
  • Data analytics and automation capabilities across technology platforms
  • Attestation over the use of technology at third parties
