Department

Projects Team – we advise private sector clients and government across energy, transport and infrastructure. Our practice is recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers for long‑standing expertise in electricity, renewables, oil & gas, rail, water and PPP.

Location – Glasgow or Edinburgh (team primarily based in Edinburgh).

Duration – Permanent; Reports to – Partner; PQE – 4;

Direct reports – None; Reference no. – 8689.

The Team

We combine deep sector expertise with sophisticated market knowledge across rail, airports, health, education, roads, bridges, prisons, public buildings, housing, water, wastewater, waste, defence, telecoms and more. We work for a range of UK and international clients, advising on major reforms and groundbreaking transactions as the UK drives to net‑zero. Our pipeline includes PFI/PPP and project finance work for the National Wealth Fund and others.

The Role

We are looking for a lawyer with an inquisitive mind who wants to be challenged intellectually, make a difference in headline‑making projects, fight climate change, and accelerate UK infrastructure growth. The role will involve private and public sector transactions, a mix of UK/Ireland and occasional international work, high‑risk characterisation, drafting complex contracts and client relationship stewardship. Ample business development opportunities are available and the role offers progression to Senior Associate, Counsel or Partner for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

You will assess risk, draft detailed contractual documentation, work with all parties to reach favourable outcomes, and maintain client relationships. You will also operate on a variety of project types, including rail, energy transition, offshore wind, PPAs, PFI/PPP, project finance, and public asset hand‑back.
