The Role

Associate / Senior Associate – Non‑Contentious Construction (2–5 PQE)

A well respected London-based law firm is seeking a non-contentious construction solicitor , with 2–5 years’ PQE , to join its highly regarded Construction team. This role will focus exclusively on non-dispute work : advising on construction documentation, appointments, contract negotiation, and related commercial real estate issues.

What You’ll Do
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage construction‑related documents such as : JCT (and other standard form) building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties / third‑party rights, novation agreements, and surety / guarantee documentation.
  • Provide procurement advice for different construction routes and contribute to decisions about the strategic procurement strategy.
  • Work closely with real estate and development teams, giving construction input into wider real estate documentation (e.g., development finance, real estate acquisitions).
  • Conduct due diligence on construction documentation as part of real estate or development transactions, and produce detailed legal reports on the construction risk.
  • Support funders, developers, institutional investors, and private clients on the construction arrangements for projects (both for funding and development).
  • Advise on building security documentation, third‑party rights, and the contractual packaging required by funders or end users.
  • Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners to help grow and develop the construction practice, including contributing to business development.
About You
  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 2–5 years’ PQE , preferably gained in a top‑tier real estate / construction practice.
  • Strong technical legal knowledge : adept at drafting construction and consultant documents, amendments to standard contracts, security documentation, and third-party rights.
  • Good commercial judgement, able to balance risk with business objectives.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong drafting skills.
  • Strong client‑relationship skills and the confidence to engage with a variety of stakeholders (developers, funders, contractors, consultants).
  • Team player : collaborative, supportive, and willing to contribute to a collegiate culture.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple streams of work and deadlines.
  • Ambitious, proactive, and keen to contribute to business development and the growth of the team.
