Position Overview
Associate Manager, Pharmaceutical Development – reporting to the Manager, Pharmaceutical Development. Based in Cwmbran, the role involves leading a team of Senior Scientists and Pharmaceutical Analysts while providing scientific and technical leadership to project teams and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the team of Senior Scientists and Pharmaceutical Analysts, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation and personal development planning.
- Provide scientific and technical leadership to project teams and client engagements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical problem solving within Nanopharm.
- Organise and plan project activities, optimising the use of equipment, resources and skills to meet customer requirements.
- Ensure the scientific team is adequately trained and competent to perform assigned tasks, and support the development of SOPs.
- Supervise experimental work, ensuring scientific rigour and adherence to SOPs.
- Represent the team to the Head of Department, presenting project progress, successes and challenges.
- Manage and track workforce absences, ensuring timely approval and implementing return‑to‑work plans where needed.
- Create a work environment that promotes retention and a low turnover rate.
- Ensure on‑time completion of annual and periodic appraisals for direct reports.
- Act as an ambassador for Nanopharm and the wider Aptar group, participating in the scientific community and sharing best practices.
Key Qualifications
- First degree in a science, pharmacy or related discipline (grade 2.1 or above).
- Experience in inhalation or respiratory product development or research.
- Proven track record of managing a team in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and expertise within a specialist field.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly evolving workloads and perform calmly under pressure.
