We are proud to be partnering with a highly respected multi‑disciplinary consultancy that continues to experience significant growth across a diverse and robust project portfolio. As their structural engineering capability expands, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director to join their leadership team.

Opportunity

As Associate Director, you will lead a section of an established structural engineering team, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of engineering design, technical excellence, financial performance, and project management. A strong track record in winning work and developing lasting client relationships will be desirable, as business development is a key component of the role.

Working across sectors including education, residential, industrial, advanced manufacturing and both high‑rise and low‑rise structures, you will be involved in projects ranging from complex refurbishments to major flagship new‑build schemes exceeding £100m in value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of engineers and technicians
  • Oversee resource planning and financial management for your section
  • Drive business development, winning new work and supporting strategic growth
  • Manage structural design and drawing production, ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Prepare detailed structural calculations to Eurocodes and relevant guidance (CIRIA, BRE etc)
  • Produce specifications, tender documents and construction information
  • Represent the business at client meetings and professional forums
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and advise contractors
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate fee agreements and manage project profitability
  • Review technical reports, client documents and undertake structural surveys
  • Develop design philosophies and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
About You
  • Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE)
  • MEng or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Significant experience leading teams within a consultancy environment
  • Proven ability to win work and grow client relationships
  • Strong technical experience across steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber and long‑span structures
  • Competent in Tekla, TEDDS, Revit and Bluebeam
  • Experience across all RIBA stages
  • Skilled in both refurbishment/change‑of‑use and new‑build projects
  • Excellent communication and people‑management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
