Tetra Tech's Cost Consultancy is responsible for some of the most strategically important projects in the UK. We provide our clients with high quality cost advice on the capital and whole life cost of their buildings with an increasing focus on carbon reduction. Due to our continued success, We are seeking an Associate Director to lead and grow our commercial team in the West Midlands, based in our Birmingham office.

Reporting directly to our Regional Director, you will become an important part of a high-performance multi-disciplinary team utilising the latest technology to deliver cost advice to design colleagues and our clients. You will be responsible for overseeing project delivery (large residential projects), management of the commercial team within the West Midlands as well as supporting the operational part of the team. You will be delivering technical excellence on a frequent basis and promoting learning opportunities to other staff. You will be professional qualified and assisting others in their development.

You will also oversee a group of Cost Managers on existing work in the Residential sector and assisting growth in Property. You will have the opportunity to develop this role as a respected and trusted advisor to an important growth initiative for the Project & Cost Management business unit.

Your Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, high performing senior individual who can demonstrate an ability to engage with design colleagues and client stakeholders. The role will involve:

  • Leading and managing a team of cost managers
  • Employer's Agent and/or Contract Administration duties for variety of projects in residential, advance manufacturing, aviation and other private sectors.
  • Leading in all aspects of Cost Management
  • Business Development and Business Planning
  • Development of a cost plans for a complex project utilising Cost X estimating software
  • Advising design colleagues on the cost implications of alternative design options
  • Monthly reporting on P&L
  • Leading Value Engineering and risk workshops and providing strategic cost advice to both
  • Providing strategy procurement advice to clients
  • Delivering the full range of construction stage cost management services
  • Building relationships with design colleagues, Client stakeholder and the Contractor
Qualifications
  • Full membership of the RICS / CIOB or +10 years' experience in specialist subject area
  • Experience of utilising Cost X or similar estimating software with Revit models
  • Experience of working on major projects (£50m+)
  • Ideally experienced in the cost management of NEC3/4 and JCT construction contracts
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to manage cost reporting meetings with senior client representatives
  • Strong leadership skills
  • A collaborative approach including working with large technical teams
  • A proven ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Software, including Excel, Project and Word
  • UK driving licence
  • Be willing to complete S/C level of security clearance on appointment (to assist Defence Sector)
