Job Title: Associate Civil Engineer

Location: Based near Glasgow

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000

This is an incredibly rare opportunity to join my client, a trusted, innovative Multidisciplinary Consultancy, currently in the process of establishing themselves as market‑leading experts in the Water and wider Civil Engineering sectors. As a recently‑established consultancy, they are currently on the lookout for a driven, talented Associate Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of drainage and non‑infrastructure design who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a number of challenging projects. You will have a hand in building and leading a newly‑established team of design engineers, based near the lively, diverse city of Glasgow.

Responsibilities for the role of Associate Civil Engineer include:
  • Delivering a number of exciting projects and developments
  • Taking responsibility for a newly‑established team of Civil Engineering professionals, mentoring them and overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) throughout their careers
  • Leading all aspects of engineering projects, including budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and successful delivery/implementation
  • Working to win a range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects
  • Managing important professional relations with clients and other stakeholders, across the public and private sectors
  • Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements
  • Enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practice
  • Upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times
  • Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a trusted, go‑to representative during client meetings, site visits, etc.
Required skills and experience for the role of Associate Civil Engineer include:
  • A UK Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
  • Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK‑based consultancy setting
  • Demonstrable experience of working with water‑based non‑infrastructure projects (such as reservoirs, pumping stations, etc.)
  • Experience of detailed drainage and civil engineering design
  • Proficient in the use of various software packages (including Revit, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports for submission
  • Prior experience of managing projects and people within the sector
  • Experience of managing client and stakeholder relations
  • Confidence in winning diverse projects across the region, and being able to successfully deliver on these to the highest of standards
  • Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable skills and experience for the role of Associate Civil Engineer include:
  • A UK Master's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering or Hydrology (or similar, relevant discipline)
  • Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments
  • Experience of Sustainable Drainage Design (SuDS)
  • Experience of working in a public‑facing role
