Job description
About Crowe

Crowe is a leading national firm offering audit, tax, advisory, and consulting services with global reach and local expertise. As an independent member of Crowe Global, one of the top 10 accounting networks worldwide, we have access to over 40,000 professionals across 140+ countries and more than 800 offices globally.

Our vision is to be a leader in our chosen markets, creating lasting value for our clients and our people and being a trusted partner in their success.

We are dedicated to driving client success, empowering our people, embracing sustainability, delivering technological change and acting in the public interest.

The team

The VAT team at Crowe is a national team that works as a single unit spread across 7 UK offices. Our VAT team includes Customs specialists and we work closely together as one regardless of regional location. In addition to working together, we support and collaborate with other Crowe service lines to provide multi-discipline solutions for our clients.

The Crowe team is broadly focused on two main areas: Corporate and Not for Profit (NFP) sectors. At a junior level there is involvement across both, giving new joiners insight into multiple VAT areas such as property and construction, manufacturing, consumer goods, not-for-profit and charities, professional partnerships, and financial services. At a senior level the team is more focused towards NFP or Corporate clients.

The team has grown rapidly over the past few years, doubling headcount and revenues. This growth has occurred evenly across compliance and advisory work and includes, as a result of Brexit, an increase in working with the Crowe international network on cross-border client projects.

The role

While undertaking the graduate VAT assistant position, you will complete a 3-year apprenticeship training contract, where you will study towards the ATT/CTA qualification, providing the foundations for your development and giving you the qualifications and tools you need to succeed in your career.

Our programme will empower you to learn new skills as well as harness existing skills to work on multiple exciting projects as well as study towards your professional qualification.

Entry Requirements
  • 2.2 minimum in any degree subject
  • BBC (Or equivalent) minimum in A Levels from 3 subjects
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) minimum in Maths & English Language

The ability to travel to clients and other offices is essential for the role. Throughout your training programme, you will also be required to attend off-site external training, where overnight stays are necessary.

The person

Your application will not be based on academic performance alone; you will be required to demonstrate the personal qualities which underpin our core values, including personal drive, integrity and leadership.

If you do not meet all the entry requirements, you may still be considered if the rest of your application is strong. If you have any extenuating circumstances that you believe we should take into account, and you are comfortable sharing, please let our recruitment team know and this will be looked at alongside your application.

Why choose Crowe?

Whatever career you choose, whether in audit, tax, marketing or HR, we can offer you a rewarding and clear career pathway, designed to help you develop your existing talents as well as discovering new ones, positioning you to make a meaningful difference to our ever-growing and varied client base.

At Crowe we foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, and we will encourage, support and guide you on an exciting professional journey of self-discovery.

We value innovation and welcome those committed to making a difference for our clients, communities, and colleagues. With access to expert knowledge, continuous learning, competitive salaries, and flexible benefits, you will have the tools to build a rewarding career.

We are committed to diversity in our teams, equal opportunity and merit-based progression. We promote a healthy working environment with flexible working approach alongside dedicated wellbeing support, helping our people to thrive both professionally and personally.

Following changes to government policy in April 2024, we only accept applications from individuals with an existing, permanent, right to live and work in the UK.
