Working Hours

35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required. We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns. Our approach to hybrid working allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office,please contact a member of the recruitment team to discuss further.

Role Overview

This is a new role, with a heavy focus on advisory work, which is intended to give extra capacity to the International and Projects Tax sub team in dealing with its core responsibilities and support the Senior Tax Manager in the delivery of these projects:

  • Assisting in the delivery of advisory projects.
  • Transfer pricing reviews.
  • Permanent establishments / taxable presence.
  • Overseeing International tax compliance on a global scale.
  • Global mobility.
Key Responsibilities

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services. All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.

  • Overseeing the completion of local tax computations and returns by external advisors, alongside local Finance Managers. The extent information or calculations are required, preparing these for review by the Senior Tax Manager.
  • Attending project meetings and identifying, alongside the Senior Tax Manager, the tax implications of proposed projects. Projects include office restructures, new office openings and closures where required.
  • Completing international project related work for example, but not limited to, preparing internal memos for senior leadership of the firm, undertaking modelling and other complex calculations and undertaking research where required.
  • Working with external advisors to formulate solutions to any tax issues arising at any point in the project review.
  • Helping respond to legislative change in the various jurisdictions outside of the UK we operate in.
  • Transfer pricing – refreshing the master files and country files and monitoring compliance with local rules.
  • Tracking the tax consequences of global mobility, including the tax consequences for the individual and for the firm, and preparing advice for the review of the Senior Tax Manager.
  • Work alongside and coordinate with the UK and Central Tax sub-team on projects and workstreams that cross both the non-UK and UK offices.
  • Alongside the Senior Tax Manager be a main point of contact for partners and Finance Managers, or other Business Team contacts, in our non-UK offices.
  • Developing more efficient processes and procedures across the relevant areas of responsibility.
Skills & Experience

The Candidate

  • Technical ability – a strong technical base is required but the successful candidate should also have a desire to develop their tax knowledge and a keen interest in being involved in tax advisory projects.
  • Analytical ability – dealing with complex problems and identifying effective solutions.
  • Communication skills - explaining technical issues clearly, both orally and in writing, to colleagues in finance, partners and external advisers.
  • Organisational ability - prioritising tasks to meet internal and statutory deadlines, ability to deal with competing demands.
  • Attention to detail - ensuring work is prepared to a high standard.
  • Initiative – anticipating issues and identifying improvements to processes and procedures.
  • Tact and diplomacy – dealing appropriately with sensitive personal data relating to partners.
Qualifications and Training
  • The candidate should hold a tax or accounting qualification, ideally CTA, ACA or ACCA.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office - in particular Excel - is essential.
  • The candidate should demonstrate either experience of, or appropriate aptitude and interest in working in an international tax environment.
