Qualifications

Assistant Solicitor - Litigation - Bristol - 1-2 Years PQE

Location: Bristol

Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 (depending on experience)

A respected and long established Bristol law firm is seeking an Assistant Solicitor with 1-2 years' post qualification experience to join its busy Litigation Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or early career solicitor to develop their skills across civil, commercial, and property litigation within a supportive and professional environment.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload and supporting senior solicitors on more complex matters, including:

  • Handling smaller litigation cases independently
  • Assisting senior solicitors on larger or more complex disputes
  • Drafting correspondence, County Court pleadings, and applications
  • Advising clients on residential landlord and tenant matters
  • Supervising and delegating work to junior staff where appropriate
  • Ensuring compliance with professional standards, regulations, and internal procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring proper costing of work
  • Contributing to a collaborative, efficient, and client focused team culture
Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • 1-2 years' PQE (NQ considered) with a current practising certificate
  • Experience in civil and commercial litigation, including property litigation
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Confidence advising clients by phone, email, and in person
  • Ability to supervise junior staff and delegate effectively
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and case management software
  • A proactive approach and willingness to develop skills across a broad range of litigation work
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
