Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Construction Interiors / Partitioning / Drywall / Ceilings

Salary: c£30k - £45k (Dependent on Relevant Experience)

The Company: My client is one of London's leading interior specialist sub-contractors, working alongside blue-chip contractors on some of the most prestigious landmark commercial office projects in Central London. They have a vibrant workforce and are a market leader.

The Quantity Surveyor Role: They have an exciting position within their Commercial Team for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with approximately 2 years of experience to work on prestigious commercial office projects in London. The role involves carrying out both Pre and Post Contract duties within an established team reporting to a Quantity Surveyor.

Roles & Responsibilities Include:

  1. Attend site regularly to value works completed
  2. Price Variations to the Bill of Quantities, revised drawings, and specifications
  3. Price Variations from Qualification and expenditure of provisional sums
  4. Provide detailed rate build-ups where necessary
  5. Value delays to the programme
  6. Re-measure the works if applicable
  7. Submit valuations
  8. Check ongoing costs and interim profitability of the project
  9. Produce figures for monthly cost value reconciliation on each project
  10. Submit final account on project completion
  11. Attend final account meetings and agree on the account
  12. Chase retentions when due

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

The successful candidate will have experience in specialist interior subcontract packages such as partitioning, ceilings, or drywall/drylining. They should hold a relevant Quantity Surveying degree qualification and be an effective team member in cost and commercial matters, interfacing with the project team.

You will ensure accuracy and quality to client standards, take commercial responsibility for contract performance to maximize turnover and profitability, and adhere to robust commercial processes to provide high-quality value for money.

Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and effective communication with clients and architects are essential. The candidate should be able to express opinions clearly both in writing and verbally, work well within a team, and interact positively with colleagues and clients.
