Job description
Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Calder Park, Wakefield

Salary: Competitive salary (based on experience/qualification) plus car allowance/company car and bonus scheme following completion of a 3-month probationary period

Hours: 7:30-4:30 Monday-Thursday and 7:30-3pm Friday

Benefits: Company pension, Fuel Card, healthcare plan after 3 months, 25 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays

Responsibilities
  • Carry out estimating and quantity surveying tasks including measurements, take-offs, procurement of materials and subcontractors for tender submissions using first principles where required
  • Complete valuations and report to the Commercial Manager and Director
  • Assist with review of main contracts
  • Undertake scheme budgets including materials, labour, and subcontractors
  • Procure trade packages as required
  • Prepare tender and subcontractor documents, including bills of quantities
  • Certify subcontractors, including labour-only subcontractor payments and wages
  • Produce subcontractor instruction and variation reports
  • Assist the project team with financial implications of site progress decisions
  • Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors, negotiate where appropriate
  • Monitor budgets and produce forecasts for current projects
  • Order and monitor material purchases and call-offs
