Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the neurology directorate. We are looking to recruit an assistant psychologist to support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the diagnostics and neurorehabilitation service, across all sectors of care. This includes providing neuropsychological assessment and neuropsychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical neuropsychologist, and working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified neuropsychologist and within the service's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in clinically related administration, conduct audits, collect statistics, and contribute to the development of audit and/or research projects.
  • Provide neuropsychological assessments and deliver structured interventions to manage the emotional, behavioural and cognitive consequences of acquired neurological conditions.
  • Work under the supervision of the Lead Clinical Psychologist and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support service delivery as a member of the CNCHP Department, which provides neuropsychology services in acute, tertiary, day/out-patient and community rehabilitation settings for clients with acquired neurological disorders, their families and carers.
  • Develop clinical experience and gain exposure to multidisciplinary working; participate in teaching and project work; and engage with opportunities for training within the wider Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Health Psychology Department.
Role Context

The role is well suited for someone hoping to obtain a place on Clinical Psychology Training. The post holder will be part of the wider department comprising Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Health Psychologists, Neuropsychologists, and Assistant Psychologists across St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with regular opportunities for training and networking.
