Assistant Property Accountant - Norwich (12-Month Fixed-Term Opportunity)

The Role

You will support our Financial Management team with critical reporting and financial controls while engaging in structured learning and development opportunities. Working collaboratively with finance teams and surveyors, you will help build strong relationships and resolve issues as they arise. Your contributions will be essential to establishing our team as an industry‑leading "Centre of Excellence."

Key Responsibilities
Reporting and Financial Operations
  • Support Trial Balance and VAT reporting requirements
  • Create ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders, including surveyors and solicitors
  • Review and reconcile tenant and landlord direct recoveries
  • Assist with property transaction mobilisation and demobilisation
  • Handle day‑to‑day client and occupier queries
  • Support Property Accountants and Senior Property Accountants across team deliverables
Financial Controls
  • Monitor key performance indicators on client portfolios and ensure timely issue resolution
  • Complete control account reconciliations accurately and monitor funding levels
  • Manage risk through compliance with company, accounting and legislative procedures
  • Identify and escalates problem areas promptly
  • Perform additional controls within our accredited control framework
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as day‑to‑day client contact for property portfolio operations
  • Collaborate with Surveyors, JLL Business Services finance teams and other stakeholders
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required
  • Maintain strong communication links with Property Accounting management, Accounts Receivable, Treasury & Control, Surveying and other internal teams
What We're Looking For
  • Strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, V‑Lookups, X‑Lookups, similar formulas)
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with team collaboration abilities
  • Flexibility to work under pressure, multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Initiative to resolve day‑to‑day issues independently
  • AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent, with aspirations for further studies
  • Knowledge of client systems (Yardi/MRI/Horizon) would be advantageous
