Job description
Assistant Patient Administrator - Maternity and Ante-natal

Fixed term contract until 31 Oct 2026 at West Middlesex University Hospital, Isleworth.

We are looking for a friendly, self‑motivated and confident person who has experience of providing a high‑level standard of customer care. The post holder will deliver a comprehensive, patient‑focused reception and admin service in our Maternity and Ante‑nal department, working in a busy and demanding environment and making a real difference to the local community by keeping the patient at the centre of everything.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a customer‑focused reception service for all patients and visitors, handling queries efficiently, politely and courteously.
  • Ensure reception areas are always manned and patients are kept informed of any delays.
  • Check in and book patient appointments in a timely manner, ensuring timing is within the appropriate gestation date range.
  • Interact with patients and relatives in a sensitive and empathetic manner.
  • Process all follow‑up appointments as patients leave the department, escalating capacity concerns in line with guidelines.
  • Make up community and hospital notes using Cerner.
  • Answer ANC phones and manage patient queries.
  • Provide cross‑cover in Maternity Reception areas and Maternity and Ante‑Natal back offices where necessary.

Education & Qualification
  • Essential: English & Mathematics GCSE or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Ability to use hospital patient administration system.
Experience
  • Essential: Previous clerical experience including computer use.
  • Essential: Experience of working within a customer‑driven service.
  • Essential: Front‑of‑house (Reception) experience.
  • Desirable: Working in NHS or other health environment.

Additional Information

Pay: £29,179 per annum incl. HCAS (pro‑rate). Band: 2. Fixed‑term contract, 9 months, full‑time.

Working pattern: Full‑time on rotation (8am‑4pm, 9am‑5pm, 11am‑7pm) Monday‑Friday, including occasional weekend and bank holiday.
