THE COMPANY:

Our client is a successful retail and corporate banking firm. They are looking to hire an Assistant Manager- Financial Crime Operations.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the Financial Crime Operations team, ensuring timely and accurate handling of all screening and monitoring alerts and fraud tickets.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to the team
  • Oversee the end-to-end process of sanctions and name screening
  • Manage the live payment screening process, ensuring real-time review of alerts and escalation of potential sanctions breaches or suspicious activity.
  • Conduct reviews of sanction screening and high-risk payment alerts, ensuring appropriate escalation and documentation.
  • Oversee transaction monitoring alerts
  • Review alert scenarios and thresholds for effectiveness;
  • Support implementation of enhanced fraud monitoring controls
  • Support the review and verification of customer onboarding and CDD files for high-risk customers.
  • Participate in ongoing monitoring of customer activity and trigger events, ensuring compliance with AML and CTF standards.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to the onboarding and compliance teams on CDD quality and risk indicators.
  • Coordinate with IT and external vendors to support the successful implementation of new models and system upgrades.
  • Maintain Management Information (MI)
  • Prepare periodic reports and updates
  • Compose financial crime updates for internal communication
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups, audits, and regulatory reviews
  • Lead or support ad-hoc projects and initiatives
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Strong understanding of UK Sanctions and Fraud regulatory frameworks, including FCA, PRA, OFSI, NCA, and ICO requirements.
  • Knowledge of financial crime systems, including transaction monitoring and sanctions screening tools.
  • Practical understanding of retail banking products ideally
  • Analytical skills with ability to interpret complex transactions and identify red flags.
  • Experience with risk-based approaches to financial crime prevention.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report drafting for senior management and Board-level committees.
