Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of gym operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience as well as a financially successful club.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a high-performing staff consisting of Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
2. Assist in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
3. Assist with Staff Management and provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
4. Assist in scheduling and supervising staff.
5. Oversee member service - ensuring staff provides a superior customer experience at all times.
6. Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
7. Participate in all front desk activities including:
8. Answer phones courteously and assist callers with inquiries.
9. Check members into the system.
10. Assist with new member sign-up.
11. Conduct tours for prospective members.
12. Facilitate all member requests, issues, and questions.
13. Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
14. Assist in ordering supplies within the designated budget based on club requirements.
15. Help track statistics and prepare reports (weekly, monthly, annually).
16. Provide backup support for absent employees.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
2. Experience working as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.
3. Strong supervisory, diplomatic, and listening skills.
4. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).
5. Hardworking, enthusiastic, and energetic!
6. Current CPR Certification required.
7. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
8. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Physical Demands

1. Continual standing and walking during shift.
2. Continuous talking in person or on the phone during shift.
3. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
4. Occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
