The Role

Legend is hiring an Associate Accountant, reporting directly to our Financial Accountant in Jersey. If you are looking to build a solid foundation in accounting and take the next step in your career, this role could be for you.

The Associate Accountant role offers a unique opportunity for someone with a background in accounts payable or receivable (AP/AR) to transition into financial reporting or those at the beginning of their qualification journey seeking to gain comprehensive experience to support their studies. You will also gain hands-on experience with financial systems, reporting, and compliance.

As a key member of the Financial Reporting team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial information that drives business decisions. This role offers direct exposure to senior finance leadership, allowing you to work closely with experienced professionals and gain invaluable insights into high-level financial decision-making.

Your Impact

• Month-End Close Support – Assist in preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to support accurate financial reporting.
• General Ledger Maintenance – Ensure transactions are recorded correctly and help resolve any discrepancies.
• Financial Reporting Support – Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and compliance documentation.
• Collaboration with AP/AR – Work with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to validate data and ensure accurate reporting.
• Process Improvement – Identify and implement efficiencies in reporting processes and financial controls.

What You'll Bring

• Education & Qualifications: Progress toward (or ambition to pursue) a professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is a plus.
• Experience: 1-2 years in an accounting role, e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or general ledger accounting. Some exposure to financial reporting is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Understanding of accounting fundamentals (debits, credits, accruals, reconciliations). Experience with accounting software and Excel is essential.
• Attention to Detail: Accuracy is key in financial reporting—this person must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive & Eager to Learn: This is a junior role, but we want someone who is motivated to grow, improve processes, and take on more responsibility over time.

The Interview Process

• 1st: Initial Chat with Talent Partner (30 minute video interview via Zoom)
• 2nd: Interview with the Financial Accountant & People Partner (1 hour in person interview)
• 3rd: Interview with the Head of Financial Reporting (30 minute video interview via Zoom)
