Job summary

A leading construction company in the UK is seeking an Assistant Estimator. In this role, you will support the estimation of project costs, assist in risk management, and facilitate contract negotiations. Job description

As an Assistant Estimator you'll be working within the Eastern Construction team, supporting them in the estimation of the costs of projects, assisting in determining contractual, financial, technical, and operational risks and in finding opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit. Your day to day will include:

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the winning of contracts by estimating costs for tenders, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting value engineering
  • Assisting in the process of assessing, preparing, validating, adjudication and final submission. This includes minimising subcontractor and material costs, communicating with design, planning, commercial and bid management functions.
  • Estimating costs in order to meet or exceed customer requirements, including obtaining and negotiating quotes.
  • Building and retaining commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors during the tender and fulfillment process.
  • Establishing and planning the requirements for internal and external resources, notably identifying and coordinating suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications
  • Experience of construction methodology, ability to assess build ability & commercial awareness.
  • Similar experience within an estimating role.
