Our team provides clients with tailored coverage of the near- and long-term deal pipeline, alongside proprietary analysis of specific opportunities. Typically, this involves deep commercial, financial and operational analysis of potential target businesses to help inform clients’ understanding prior to diligence stage.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Director on the team, you will:

  • Maintain and enhance sector expertise to support client engagement and idea generation;
  • Lead the preparation of marketing materials for corporate and private equity clients;
  • Build strong relationships with clients and support them across the entire M&A cycle, from deal execution to integration to transformation, working alongside experienced professionals in Deloitte M&A, FDD, VCS, Tax and Consulting teams;
  • Understanding of business operations and its drivers;
  • Analysis of historical financial performance;
  • Market analysis including mapping competitors and market landscapes to understand competitive positioning, market drivers etc.;
  • Forming a view of the potential investment thesis, including topline growth and margin expansion opportunities; and
  • Financial modelling (LBO, DCF) and comparables analysis to inform view on potential valuation;
  • Build strong relationships with clients and support them across the entire M&A cycle, from deal execution to integration to transformation, working alongside experienced professionals in Deloitte M&A, FDD, VCS, Tax and Consulting teams;
  • Grow a network of contacts internally and externally to generate new engagements for the firm and grow Deloitte brand in the Financial Services ecosystem;

As an Assistant Director, you will also be a core senior member of the team and will have leadership responsibilities including:

  • Mentor junior colleagues, helping them build technical as well as soft skills and coaching them to achieve their career aspirations.
  • Contribute to the overall leadership of the team, champion integrity, diversity and integrity

  • Knowledge or experience of the Financial Services sector
  • Understanding of private equity clients and private equity deal-making
  • Great people person who is comfortable with client exposure from the outset, with the ability to build relationships and develop your own network
  • Excellent numerical aptitude and analytical skills, with an ability or interest in appraising businesses from a financial, commercial and deal investment perspective
  • Experience of operating with senior level stakeholders, and in building and managing client relationships
  • Exceptional academic background
  • An ACA or CFA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working within M&A or Corporate Development / Strategy (e.g. via Big 4, Strategy Consulting, Boutique Advisory, corporate client, investment bank), ideally within Services sector
