Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer

Location: Crawley

Type: Full Time | Permanent

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm or 9:00am-5:30pm

The Opportunity

Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of a well‑established engineering/manufacturing business for an Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer to join their Purchasing Department.

This role would suit someone with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who is looking to develop their career within procurement. You will work as part of a small, supportive team, helping to secure the timely and cost‑effective supply of parts and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Raise, place, and chase purchase orders in line with business requirements
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders when inventory is low
  • Track outstanding orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery
  • Assist with internal budget control and cost monitoring
  • Support supplier price negotiations and cost price management
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments to support production and operational needs
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with cost price negotiation or supplier price discussions
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Professional, organised, and reliable approach to work
