Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to join their Birmingham‑based team. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone at the early stages of their surveying career who wants exposure to varied projects, real responsibility, and structured progression towards chartership.

The Role

As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you'll support and contribute to the delivery of professional building surveying services across a broad UK project portfolio. Working closely with experienced surveyors and multi‑disciplinary teams, you'll gain hands‑on experience while building the technical and commercial skills needed for long‑term career success.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with building condition surveys and producing clear, client‑ready reports
  • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation, including drawings, specifications and schedules of work
  • Assisting with tender analysis and the drafting/issuing of JCT contracts
  • Participating in pre‑ and post‑contract briefings to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Undertaking site inspections to monitor quality, progress and health & safety compliance
  • Supporting fee forecasting and financial profiling across multiple projects
  • Attending client and project meetings, representing the consultancy professionally
  • Travelling to site and client locations as required
About You

This role would suit someone with genuine ambition and enthusiasm for Building Surveying.

You will ideally have:
  • A relevant degree (or working towards one), or strong practical experience in Building Surveying
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • A desire to work towards RICS chartership
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
  • 1+ years of building surveying experience ideally within a consultancy
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
