Were now looking for a hands‑on, proactive Assistant Bar Manager to join our team and oversee the smooth running of the Taproom during service and events. The Assistant Bar Manager will support the Bar owners with the day‑to‑day running of the Taproom, to supervise the staff and oversee the smooth running of the Taproom during service and events. They will be the on shift manager.
Working 4 days per week from Thursday to Sunday.
This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave.
Operations & Service
- Oversee taproom operations during shifts, ensuring high standards of service at all times
- Act as the main point of contact for staff and customers while on duty
- Resolve customer issues and complaints professionally and efficiently
- Ensure the bar is clean, well‑stocked, and presented to company standards
Staff Management
- Supervise, motivate, and support bar staff during shifts
- Assistant owner with preparation of weekly staff rotas
- Allocate duties, manage breaks, and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Provide on‑the‑job training and coaching to new and existing team members
- Lead by example with professionalism and a positive attitude
Stock & Cash Handling
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies
- Assist with stock ordering, deliveries, and stock rotation
- Ensure accurate cash handling, till operation, and end‑of‑shift cashing up
- Minimise wastage and control costs
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and responsible service of alcohol
- Enforce age verification and intoxication policies
- Maintain health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Handle incidents in line with company procedures
Sales & Performance
- Drive sales through upselling, promotions, and excellent guest experience
- Provide feedback to senior management on operations and staff performance

- Proactive, hard‑working, and thrives in a hands‑on role.
- Energetic, confident, and passionate about creating great customer experiences.
- Able to think on their feet and handle multiple tasks at once.
- A true craft beer enthusiast.
- Must be willing to work weekends as that is when the taproom is open!
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in a senior role within the hospitality industry.
- Scottish Personal Licence Holder preferred
- Proven experience leading and motivating a team.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- PC literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience running events is desirable.
