Overview

Assistant Audit Manager - Top-50 - £55-60,000 (hybrid working). Calling all ACA or ACCA qualified auditors with 3-5 years UK practice experience: my client (Top-50) is keen to hire someone to help realise professional and financial potential. Following the recent economic downturn, this Top-50 accountancy practice has emerged with flying colours, consistently offering a terrific level of service to its client base and winning new business. The firm seeks an accomplished and high-calibre ACA or ACCA qualified Assistant Audit Manager to join their team.

Joining a hard-working and high-achieving team, you will be in great company to challenge yourself further and push on in your career. The role will initially involve handling a sizeable client portfolio (up to £500k fees) while providing an excellent level of service, with some business advisory work in addition to regular compliance services. The client base consists of owner-managed businesses and subsidiaries of overseas companies, including aspects of group accounting. Typical client turnovers range from £1m to £50m. Internally, managers contribute to day-to-day office operations and to the management and training of staff. As a senior representative of the firm, you may prepare and present new business pitches, presenting an opportunity to demonstrate and develop client-facing and business development skills.

Responsibilities
  • Managing audit assignments
  • Reviewing audit planning, including agreeing budgets and timetables with clients
  • Allocating work, briefing and controlling the team, and ensuring timetables are met
  • Performing corporation tax work, including tax planning for corporate clients and their directors
  • Reviewing corporation tax computations and returns
  • Managing the financial aspects of a portfolio, including raising fees and controlling recoveries
  • Arranging, planning and attending client account finalisation meetings
  • Training and appraisal of staff
  • Maintaining and developing excellent client relationships
  • Involvement in ad-hoc assignments such as company valuations and due diligence work
Qualifications
  • ACCA or ACA qualified
  • 3-5 years UK practice experience
  • Ambitious and commercially minded with a drive to progress to Manager level
