My client, a large retailer is seeking a Assistant Accountant to be based from its offices in Wolverhampton (4 days per week).

My client is an established retailer based in Wolverhampton, who has seen significant growth over the last five years

As a retail focused Assistant Accountant based in Wolverhampton reporting to the Management Accountant you will:

• Process purchase ledger transactions: match invoices to POs, code costs as well monitor stock via GRNs for 200+ stores
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate creditor balances
• Handle supplier queries by phone and email, escalating complex issues to senior finance colleagues
• Support month-end activities: prepare accruals, prepayments, andreconciliations

The most desirable applicant for this retail focused Assistant Accountant role will:

• Minimum 4 years\' experience in purchase ledger or accounts assistant roles, ideally within retail or a stock environment
• Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and resolve them quickly
• Clear communicator who can build relationships with suppliers, stores, and internal teams

Up to £30,000 per annum for a 6 month contract
