Assistant Accountant

Location: Inverness, Scotland
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Role Type: Permanent
Reports to: Financial Controller

The role

You will:

• Lead and develop a team of 4 to 5, setting priorities and building capability.
• Deliver timely management accounts with clear variance insight.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll and the GL, keeping data clean and controls tight.
• Maintain a robust balance sheet and improve cash flow and balance sheet forecasting.
• Be audit ready year round and act as the key contact for external auditors.
• Improve processes, policies and reporting tools, then embed them with the team.

About you

• 3 to 5 years in finance or accounting with proven team leadership.
• Strong grasp of controls, statutory reporting and audits. Clear communicator who partners well across functions.
• Advanced Excel and confident with accounting software. Pegasus Opera and payroll exposure are a plus. Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CA) is desirable.
